Fall Colors in North Texas

Fall Colors is a beautiful phenomenon that takes place in the entire United States. It is specially beautiful in the east coast region and the northern states where the weather changes are pretty drastic. Texas also has its own share of fall colors but it is not famous for various reasons. One is that Texas has always been promoted as a flat, prairie land full of cattle ranches, cowboys, bars and barbeque places. Well actually that is quite a deceptive picture of Texas. The Lone Star State has several unique attractions such as large fresh water lakes, mountains, deserts, etc.

Anyway yesterday I visited Bonham State Park about 50 miles north of Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area. The highly wooded parkland area was truly a riot of color. Trees presented a multitude of hues from pale yellow to blazing red. Here are some pictures of the colors I saw yesterday.

Fall - The Season of Colors

It is that time of the year
When trees turn into a riot of color
Leaves of all colors flutter
Making us wonder at the marvels of nature.

Fall is that time of transitions
A time of rapid changes
When searing hot summer wanes
Letting in cold winter winds

Spring transforms.... but when....

It is officially spring in America but for this tree in the McKinney Town Lake Recreation area it is still fall. New leaves have not yet sprouted, leaving the tree at the mercy of the sun which is heating up by the day. Hopefully the heat of the sun will wake up the slumbering innards of the tree and make it green and beautiful again... soon.

Fall Views of DFW

The bone chilling winds are blowing the already weakened clorophyll-shorn leaves off and the trees are starting to become empty wooden frames. Some days are sunny and bright but one can't step out and enjoy the sun light because the cold winds make it a virtual refrigerator. I hate the summer's searing heat but at least one can go out and do something... now the cold is frustrating because it imprisons us to centrally heated homes and cars.
Anyway here are some views of the fall in DFW area.

Frozen Windshield & trees without leaves

One of the biggest pains during winter in the US is frozen windshields. When you get out of the house in the morning and into the car you will see an opaque windshield. Over the night mist would have settled on the glass and frozen over to create a sheet of ice on the glass. The next process is quite painful... fire up the engine and start the heater and wait for the next 4-5 minutes for the ice to melt and then start driving. The wait is often times frustrating because in winter first of all I tend to oversleep and will be already late for work... Anyway Here are some pictures of trees shorn off all leaves and some trees getting ready to shed leaves and of course the car with a ice-coated windscreen.

Fall Colors in Carrollton, Tx

I have been busy going through my college, radio shows, volunteering and other stuff that I almost missed capturing the beauty of fall in my camera. Last weekend I finally got around to do it and here are the amazing hues of nature. Of course most of the pictures have been shot inside the apartment complex I live in and couple have been captured outside in places like Irving and Plano, places that I frequently visit.
