Junk Yard Visit

Everybody loves to visit beautiful, opulent and amazing tourist places. But I like to understand the community of the place where I go. So I visit their murky underbelly, down towns, back alleys, automobile salvage and junk yards etc. So last week's exploration took me to an automobile junkyard in the city of Grand Prairie, south of DFW. This is nothing but acres and acres of wrecked, crashed and damaged cars. All perceivable models, makes, sizes, shapes and colors. Surprisingly there were very few Japanese cars, most of the cars were American, Fords, Dodges, Chevys, Lincolns, etc.

Thousands of dead cars, awaiting a decent funeral. Being mauled and molested even after their demise...

Parking lot or a stack of crashed cars?

We often think we are safe inside a car, but one visit to the junkyard will dispel all such illusions. Cars are smashed and laid one above the other like paper sheets. Proud car owners will get humbled in here, especially those who feel extra-arrogant about their rides.

Once Proudly owned and lovingly maintained cars.. now nothing but a stack of sheet metal..

Nature thrives, where human beings don't meddle... even in junk yards

My favorite part of the junk yard was at the far end of it. A quaint water body teeming with life... birds, fish and insects. I hope this water body is not harmed by the influx of more crashed cars into the yard.
