The Fusion Mela in aid of Datta Yoga Center took place at the Warren Sports Complex, Frisco. The event which debuted in 2008 was in its full force today. While last year it was an out and out Desi event, this year it was a true fusion event with performances by Spanish, Chinese, Country, Euro-American and of course Indian performances.
The event has been organized by a non-profit organization, Datta Yoga Center, which is headquartered in Mysore, India. For a change the event had involvement from a multitude of communities, though it was a benefit show for a temple.
Like the organizers promised the event was definitely enthralling mix of sports, food, fun, shopping and wholesome entertainment for the entire family. Kids had bounce houses, dancing, face painting. Women had jewelry, henna (tattoos), apparel and other offerings. Men of course had to be content forking out $$s to indulge their wives, kids and girlfriends as the case may be. A variety of food was available, nachos, barbeque, ice creams, cool drinks, roti, nan, rice, chaat, etc was available.
Datta Yoga Center did a great job in roping in City of Frisco, Frisco Chamber of Commerce and Frisco Arts departments and putting together the event with over 50 volunteers. I am glad I was part of the event.
