Contraptions like the one in this picture are common sight in rural America. These are supposed to be gas wells which go down as deep as 10,000 ft in search of fossil fuels.
The highway 5 which is the arterial linking road between Los Angeles and Bay Area passes through some very scenic mountainous landscapes. This picture was shot through the windshield as we hurtled down the highway at 85 miles per hour.
