Summer Heat Sweeps across Texas

PERRYTON, TX - JULY 28: A corn crop dries up ...

It is that time of the year again when everyone reaches out for the cool icy drinks, turns on the air conditioner full blast in the car, at home, in the office, pretty much everywhere. The past couple of years Texas has been shrouded in a drought that has caused many calamities including massive forest fires last year and some this year. Of course agricultural production is way down and as I drive I see hundreds of acres of failed corn crop.

This year people were hoping for a better summer than last but the rain gods have not obliged. They did sprinkle a little more water than last year but not enough to take the drought away. I wonder how many years this drought will last in this Lone Star State?
